Vanity of vanities. . . Solomon begins the book of Ecclesiastes with a rather dismal outlook. “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity” Ecclesiastes 1:2
He goes on to write twelve chapters only to tell us that everything in life is vanity and nothing satisfies.
In next to the last verse of the book he makes serving God sound like a duty as he says, “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”Ecclesiastes 12:13
However, his son David gets it! He says,
“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Psalm 16:11
If we heed David’s words we won’t have to spend our life searching for something to satisfy. There truly is joy; fulness of joy, in serving Jesus.
If the whole world could just know Jesus, it would solve a lot of problems. Instead of vanity, Jesus satisfies and gives you something worth living for!
Here is a song the Lord gave me one day after I found His fulness of joy! I now have this available as a Children’s Illustrated Song. See it at http://www.irenespoetry.com/childrens-songs.
Jesus Gave Me Something Worth Living For song by Irene Smith Jesus gave me something worth living for. He filled my heart with love and a whole lot more. The peace I have is what I've been searching for. Jesus gave me something worth living for. I have real joy down in my soul Since I gave Him my life to control. Jesus gave me something worth living for. He filled my heart with love and a whole lot more. The peace I have is what I've been searching for. Jesus gave me something worth living for.
“For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:9
