Have you ever been overwhelmed with something that seemed too big for you? Well, if you are a woman I know the answer to that question! One definition of the word overwhelm is,to charge someone with too many tasks.
That would definitely apply to housework. Sometimes it seems like you just don’t know where to start and there is no stopping place. We can’t do all of our housework in a moment. We have to do one task at a time. It’s an ongoing process we must work at to accomplish what needs to be done.
Also, I know from experience, if we have too many pounds to lose it can seem very overwhelming! We can eat a good, healthy meal but that alone will not bring the results we want. We have to consistently make right food choices and eventually we will see the pounds fall off, one pound at a time.
We want to be healthy. Some ladies cook big batches of food and then freeze it for future meals. That might be a lot of good, healthy food, but we can’t eat it all at one setting. We have to eat a little at each meal. Our body absorbs the nutrition we need for each day and eventually we become healthy and strong.
It’s all about taking one step at a time! One job at a time! One meal at a time! Eventually we can look back and see how far we have come.
So it is in our daily walk with God. For the woman of God who is hungry to learn more about Him and His Word, it is easy to become overwhelmed. Where do I start reading? How can I grasp it all? How can I apply it to my life? It’s all so good and there is so little time.
We have to take just one day at a time, look into God’s Word consistently. We can’t take it all in at one setting, but we must be faithful to spend time with Him and let Him reveal the things to us that He wants us to see. He loves us so much and is waiting to help us.
“Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.” Jeremiah 33:3
It’s so wonderful when He reveals a precious truth to us. We can take it from His hand and hide it in our heart!
Eventually we will look back and see the changes God has made in us. Let’s walk each day with God and let Him teach us and lead us.
“He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own!”
“But the word of the LORD was unto them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; . . .” Isaiah 28:13
“For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” Romans 15:4
